Dormaa East Assembly achieves remarkable success - DCE

The Dormaa East District Assembly achieved remarkable success in the implementation of government programmes in 2014, Mr. Frank Kumi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), announced on Tuesday.

Mr. Kumi who was addressing the end-of-year general meeting of the Assembly at Wamfie, said for the first time since the inception of the District Development Facility (DDF) assessment exercise, the Assembly had 97 per cent.

He said the Assembly had also successfully completed the first phase of the street naming project, saying that it was among the first three districts in the Region to beat the deadline set by President John Dramani Mahama.

The DCE recounted a number of socio-economic development projects, like health and education facilities completed and inaugurated in the year within the district, adding that work on the Assembly’s Administration Block has started, and was progressing steadily.

Mr. Kumi reminded members of the up-coming district level elections, pointing out that it was non-partisan, and contestants must therefore conduct their campaigns in a civil and peaceful manner, devoid of bitterness, rancour and insults, because “we are all seeking to improve the lives of the people.”

The meeting welcomed a suggestion to establish a district education endowment fund, to mobilize financial and material resources, to assist the Assembly to promote education in the area.
