Dormaa West PM worries about deplorable roads

Mr Paul Kwaku Peprah, Presiding Member of the Dormaa West District in the Brong-Ahafo Region has expressed concern about the deplorable state of roads in the predominantly cocoa growing District.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Nkrankwanta that the situation was affecting economic activities of farmers in the area.

Mr Peprah observed with regret that quantities of food stuffs and cocoa beans were always left to rot in the farms during rainy seasons and periods of bumper harvest.

He explained that because of the poor nature of roads linking various farm gates, most drivers failed to ply on them during the wet season.

The Presiding Member said the main Dormaa-Nkrankwanta road was very dear to people in the District and appealed to the government to ensure that on-going construction works were completed on schedule.

Mr Peprah commended the government for putting measures in place to improving cocoa annual production in the area.

He cited the government’s free supply of cocoa seedlings, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to farmers, which he said, was in the right direction, indicating that such incentive packages had motivated the cocoa farmers to expand their farms.
