Agbozume, May 28, GNA- The Some Traditional Area in the Ketu-South

Dstrict of the Volta Region, is to benefit from development projects outlined

for it by Mr Arthur Paes, a Dutch business executive. Mr Paes, who was installed as "development Chief" of the area in 2002,

under the stool name Togbe Dunenyo, announced the plan at a durbar of

chiefs, organised in his honour at the weekend at Agbozume. He said the projects included the building of an orphanage in the district

for which land had been acquired at Lagbatsime near Agbozume. Mr Paes said that he would pay Ghc 5,000 into a development fund he initiated for the area with an initial amount of Ghc 3,000, following his

installation. He said part of earnings from a hotel he acquired in Accra would be ceded

for investment towards development in the area. Mr Paes called for the setting up of development planning committee at

the secretariat of the paramount chief of the area to collate requests and

proposals for effective execution of projects. He donated two computers and accessories to the paramount chief's

secretariat and Some Queen Mothers Association. Mr Paes also commissioned a block of six classrooms under construction

with his support, for the Bells Montesori/Togbe Dunenyo Basic School at

Denu. Togbe Hor II, paramount chief of Some Traditional Area, commended Mr

Paes for paying Ghc 5,600 as component fund for a German Development

Cooperation Small Communities Water Project at Adina, on behalf of coastal

communities in the area. He also praised Mr Paes for supporting a pilot agricultural project at

Adinamornu and for donating a car to the paramount chief's secretariat. Togbe Hor urged the people and chiefs to support Mr Paes towards the development of the area. Mr Justice Cudjoe, the District Chief Executive, lauded Mr Paes for contributing to the development of the area. He said feeder roads in the Agbozume area would be rehabilitated adding

that the Agbozume-Srohume road would be repaired under the Millennium Challenge Account Project in addition to extension of electricity to some

communities to facilitate economic activities.
