The Akyem Kukurantumi Township in the Eastern region was on Sunday thrown into a state of shock after a black cobra invaded the Dominion Power Ministry Church during service and succeeded in biting one of the congregants.

The victim, Kofi Nyarko, was rushed to the Akyem Tafo Government Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

Speaking to Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent, Kojo Ansah, the victim explained that the incident happened as a shock to the Church members as they were not suspecting such an attack.

He said, after the sermon by the pastor, the entire congregation were asked to meditate over the scriptures, however, while the prayers were ongoing, he felt a sharp pain in his foot which compelled him to open the eyes, only to see the cobra moving away while blood was gushing out from his foot.

Nyarko added that he screamed for help which attracted the attention of the entire church members who came to his rescue after they managed to kill the snake.

He said, after bandaging the leg and given onions to chew as first aid, he was rushed to Tafo Government Hospital where he was admitted and given some medication.

Meanwhile, an Elder of the Church, Nana Frimpong told Starr News that the incident came as a shock since the Church has been holding service in the gated school building for several years now.

He added that despite the attack, the church is not discouraged to continue with its service in the building but rather sees it as triumph over the devil.
