Mr Victor Smith, the Eastern Regional Minister, has urged Traditional Areas to settle chieftaincy disputes amicably to ensure peace and tranquility in the society.
He noted with concern that barely two weeks after assuming office in the region, there had been two chieftaincy cases and said those development did not help to develop a nation.
Mr Smith gave the advice when he paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Oti Boateng, at his palace on Sunday.
He said there would certainly be some litigants and disputes in a Traditional Area but when they occurred, they should be settled amicably.
Mr Smith was happy about the peaceful manner the biometric registration exercise was being conducted in the region and appealed that, the same peaceful atmosphere be extended to the December elections.
Daasebre Oti Boateng urged Ghanaians to be grateful to the Almighty God for the peaceful atmosphere in the country as compared to other countries.
He urged politicians to do away with politics of insults to help maintain the peace in the country, before, during and after the December polls.
Daasebre Oti Boateng reminded Ghanaians that no investor would be prepared to invest in the country if peace was not maintained.**
