ECG loses money through illegal connections

The Acting Agona Swedru Area Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Mr Asiananah Anprofi, has appealed to assembly members to help expose illegal electricity connections.

Addressing the Agona West Municipal Assembly at its third meeting at Agona Swedru, he said illegal connections had become a major challenge facing ECG and urged assembly members to help fight the canker.

Mr Anprofi said ECG was losing huge sums of revenue as a result of the illegal connections and other nefarious activities.

He said ECG was trying to solve its own internal problems to improve efficiency and effective services to the public.

He said ECG was facing erratic power supply to consumers, adding that top management of the Company was working hand-in-hand with the government to resolve the on-going loading shedding exercise.

Mr Anprofi said ECG was undertaking expansion projects in towns and villages in the Gomoa, Agona East and Agona West district.
