EPP Books Services has donated items to support the Ghana Prison Service’s "Project Efiasi".
The Ghana Prisons Service launched "Project Efiasi" in June, 2015 as a 10-year strategic development plan which will serve as a trust fund to reform and rehabilitate all 43 prisons in the country.
The donation was in part a fulfillment of a promise made by the company's Managing Director, Dr Gibrine Adam, following a courtesy call on Ghana Prisons Council made to him.
The items, valued at GH¢ 58,000.00 included five laptop computers, five desktop computers, five sets of Americana Encyclopedia and a set of Britannica Encyclopedia.
The donation was made on behalf of the company by Faisal Ibrahim Cisse, Territorial Manager and Head of Public Relations of the company.
In a remark, Mr Ibrahim Cisse said the donation was the first part of two donations the company would be making to the Prisons Service.
He said the second donation would be made up of mainly books requested by the Prisons Service to help in the reformation and education of inmates.
Reverend Dr Stephen Wengam, Chairman for the Ghana Prisons Service Council, who received the items, thanked the EPP Books Services for the donation, adding that the gesture was the biggest the Service had received since the project was launched,
He called on other corporate organisations to emulate the gesture.
