The Eastern Regional Police Command has identified 275 flash points in the region, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwabena Gyamera-Yeboah, has disclosed.
He said to ensure that these flash points do not pose any threat or spark conflict, the police had decided to station two security officers at each polling station in these areas.
DCOP Gyamera-Yeboah, who disclosed this at a meeting in Koforidua with senior police officers from the region, indicated that the personnel are well prepared to deal with any nasty situation.
The meeting was called at by the Commissioner of Police (COP) John Kudalor, Director-General of Operations.
COP Kudalor said the police who are the lead agency in ensuring security should not take anything for granted.
He said despite the crucial role of the police in the elections, the personnel would still be expected to maintain its core mandate of protecting lives and property on daily basis.
COP Kudalor said the police command had equipped the highway patrol team with vehicles to effectively do their work.
He called on the senior officers not to down play anything and rather act quickly on any information to forestall any untoward situation.
