Alhaji Naser Mahama Toure, the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament (MP) for East Ayawaso, at the weekend donated assorted food items to chiefs, imams and opinion leaders as well as constituency executives of the party, for the Ramadan.
The items include 100 bags of sugar, 150 cartons of ideal milk, 100 boxes of Lipton Tea, 20 cartons of Milo, 20 bags of rice and 10 boxes of oil.
The donation was received by the constituency executives, led by Alhaji Williams Olabodi, the Chairman of the Constituency.
Alhaji Toure said the gesture was to demonstrate the MPs love for the Muslim Community in line with the annual observation of Ramadan, which was considered the ‘Holiest month’ and one of the five pillars of Islam.
He commended Muslims for peacefully coexisting with members of other religious organisations.
Alhaji Toure noted that the high sense of maturity exhibited by Muslims had contributed to the promotion of democracy and good governance in the country.
He appealed to the Imams to continue to offer sacrifices and prayers for peace and stability.
Alhaji Olabodi thanked the MP for the kind gesture.
He said the MP had been a great benefactor to many, and recently donated bags of cement to the affected victims of the floods.
He has also donated more than 1,000 Mathematical sets to students writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the constituency.
