Eastern Regional Remembrance Day held in Koforidua

Koforidua, Nov. 11, GNA - This year's Remembrance Day parade in memory of soldiers, who died during the Second World War, was held at the Koforidua Jackson Park on Thursday.

The parade was mounted by 144 personnel from the Military, Police Service, Immigration Service, Fire Service, and Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, with Captain Godfred Asampong, of the First Infantry Battalion, as the Parade Commander. Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Babal Jamal Ahmed, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, heads of departments and agencies and security services in the Region were present. Mr Ofosu Ampofo laid the first wreath on behalf of the President and the people of Ghana, Lieutenant Colonel B. D Owusu, Commanding Officer of the First Infantry Battalion, Michel Camp, Tema, laid the second wreath on behalf of the security services. Other wreaths were laid by Ex. Warrant Officer, Class Two, Ntow Odei, Eastern Regional Chairman of the Veteran Association of Ghana, on behalf of the Veterans and Daasebre Professor Oti Boateng, Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, laid the fourth wreath on behalf of the people of New Juaben.
