‘Education better than roads’

The Omanhene of Mim Traditional Area, Okofrobuo Nana Dr Yaw Agyei II insists providing better education for the youth in his area to enable them to become influential people in society delights him more than having first class roads in the area.

“I believe if I’m able to groom a girl or boy to attain high level of education, it is better than having a 10-kilometre highway in my area, and this is what makes me proud,” he stressed.

The traditional leader who was speaking in an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE said proper education was what parents and guardians could bequeath their children in this computer era.

Nana Dr Agyei II promised to sustain his good works to ensure that the children in his kingdom would receive better education so that they would fulfill their dreams of becoming important people in society in future.

The Mim Omanhene in the Brong Ahafo Region had contributed immensely in the provision of school blocks and other amenities that has the potential of improving studying and learning among the people.

The Omanhene is also credited for playing vital roles in the provision of facilities to ensure proper health delivery and other significant incentives that have bettered the lives of his subjects.

Still on the positive effects of education, the Mim Omanhene said he would adopt a radical approach whereby school going children in the traditional area would see the need for them to always be in school.

Nana Dr Agyei II said as part of his plans, pollution of water bodies and the rampant felling of trees in the forest would be a thing of the past.

He said part of vision is to inculcate good morals and ethics into the citizenry and encourage the essence of communal labour among his people.

He bemoaned the growing rate of ignorance, especially among young girls in his area who seemed not to observe the importance of education.
