Nkoranza (B/A), Jan 19, GNA - Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has commended circuit supervisors in the district for helping to improve education in the district. He said this at a meeting with 10 circuit supervisors at which plans for the second term of the academic year were discussed. The district placed 74th out of the 110 districts in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) last year. In 2003, the district took the 102nd position.
''I wish to commend circuit supervisors for their support for the teachers and this helped to propel the district to attain better results.''
Mr Agyemang-Badu praised Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, the acting District Chief Executive, and other public-spirited citizens in the district for their efforts at raising the standard of education in the district.
''The inclusion of Nkoranza District Directorate of Education in the government's Pilot Programme Scheme (PPS) had brought good results.''
Under the scheme each child under five years is qualified for a fee-free education.
He said some steps would be taken to ensure quality teaching and learning in schools. Teaching and learning materials would be provided and about 30 schools with water problems would also be provided with poly-tanks.
