Edwowdzi Festival launched at Aburansa

Nana Kwamena Annobil II, Paramount Chief of Aburansa Traditional Area in the Komenda-Edna-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency, has launched the Edwowdzi Afahye (yam festival) of the people of Aburansa.

The festival, which also coincides with Nana Annobil’s 20th year on the stool, will be celebrated from October 21 to 27 on the theme: “Healthy Environment, Key to Economic Growth”.

Activities earmarked for the celebration include, a tree planting exercise, quiz, cinema, bicycle race and musical concert.

A grand durbar will be held on Saturday October 26, to be climaxed by a concert party on Sunday October 27.

Nana Annobil II said the theme was very appropriate for the occasion since it was only when people were fit and healthy to work that there would be economic growth and development.

He used the occasion to call on investors interested in building factories to come to the area and noted that parcels of land had been put aside for such developments.

Nana Annobil appealed to the government to build a Senior High School in the town since there was none in the area. He also called for a market to be constructed to boost economic activities at Aburansa.

He invited all indigenes of the town living in the Diaspora as well as the general public to join them for the celebrations in order to make it a success.
