NPP ANSWERS AGGRIEVE ACTIVISTS AT BEREKUM ... .
Perhaps the striking action is the only effective means to meet a pressing demand from government if not negotion otherwise the demands of the second-hands goods sellers would not have been met if defection action had not been threatened by the group. The NPP was quick to go on a round table discussion with the 400 people who last week threatened to quit from the party after Hon. Captain(rtd) Nkrabea Hyebre Effah Dartey, Deputy Minister of Interrior with the Berekum DCE, Hon. Kyere Yeboah had failed to honour their promises that the group would be beneficiaries of the poverty alleviation funds and that a perminent structres to house their goods at the market would be constructed when he is help to retain his seat as MP for Berekum.
The NPP after meeting with the aggrieved traders assured them that the project would be constructed as a move to get the group to rescind their earlier decision to quit the party.
Readers may recall that soon after The Sun publication, the constituency chairman Mr. S.K. Kamkam, was heard on Adom FM that the aggrieved group had been talked to and they agreed not to quiet.
However the paper learnt that the claims made by the Chairman that the group rescinded their decision to leave the party was not necessary true. According to the chairman of the Second-Hand cloths dealers Association, Mr. Adu Frimpong nothing concrete has been done except the promise made by the chairman of the party that the problem would be solved and that they should go back to take their duties in their various areas in the party.
?We shall keep on mounting pressure on them until our demands are met or we will embark on a serious demonstration coming Thursday?. He stressed. According to Kamkam, he made the statement on air as a result of the fruitful discussion they had with the NPP activists over the weekend.
"They have come to a peacefully agreement with us and are welcomed back to the party again but not knowing that all that were discussed fall on deaf ear"he lamented.
He said MP of the area Nkrabea Effah Dartey has decided to support the construction of the market-structures with an amount of ?20 million as his share of contribution towards the project.
Mr.Kamkam told the Sun that the party could not sit down to lose such a great number of activists at a go therefore the earlier they respond to the problem the better since their demands would also go along way to enhance development in the area.
?I am proven to believe that somebody is behind the immedite decision taken by the activists in the constituency but whatever situation may be the party executives will see to it that they retain the 400 youth in the party"he stressed.
He called on the NPP youth to exercise some restrains since their request have been taken into consideration by the District Assembly and the NPP government to make sure that the NPP youth do not take such action again.
