Events Africa, an event management organisation, has launched Ghana Media Festival (Mediafest 2015) aimed to expose and empower the media in the performance of its role in fostering peace and development.
The two-day event, to be held in the latter part of 2015, is on the theme: “Celebrating the Media towards its Rights: Fostering Peace and Development,” seeks to upgrade the quality of the media as far as international standards are concerned and also encourage professionalism, objectivity and responsibility in the media.
Chief Executive Officer of Events Africa, Mr Felix Vander-Pallen, said the event would help foster peace and socio-economic development through strategic media expositions to raise awareness on developmental issues.
He said activities lined up for the Mediafest include a media fair for all participating media houses to enable the public understand and appreciate their operations such as the electronic, print and online.
There would also be a conference for media personnel to be addressed by renowned local and international resource persons and capped by a major concert on the evening of the second day with both local and international artistes.
“It promises to be a memorable event and sure to leave an indelible impact,” Mr Vander-Pallen said, adding that the event would be held annually to explore various aspects of the role of the media in the development process.
