Aiwiaso-Aiyinase (W/R) July 18-GNA-Mr. Joseph B. Aidoo, Western Regional Minister said Ghana cannot develop if its citizens continually plan, think and pride themselves in evil.
He said many people are engaged in dishonest practices, are insincere to their fellows and yet attend church services and other religious groupings.
Mr. Aidoo said these at the first graduation ceremony of the Saint Theresa's Vocational Institute at Aiwiaso-Aiyinase in the Nzema east district of the Western Region.
He said hardwork, discipline, honesty and a positive attitude, could transform a gloomy situation into a successful one and charged the new graduates to make them their companions. Mr. Aidoo advised them to be truthful to their customers, creative and meticulous about the final products they present to the market adding, 'your newly acquired skills would transform your life if only you develop it for the good of society".
Sister Scholastica Nsiah, headmistress said the school was established in May 1993 to provide productive skills for young girls in the Nzema area for their development.
She said currently the schools population has increased from 20 to 74 but the desire of young girls to pursue further education and skills training in Takoradi, Cape Coast and Kumasi, was having a negative effect on the school.
Sister Nsiah said acute water shortage, lack of sporting equipment and electrical gadgets for entertainment were some of the major challenges facing the school.
She charged the outgoing students to be kind, loyal and exhibit the requisite qualities of a Christian in their chosen professions. Mr. Freddy Blay, first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, congratulated the graduands and urged them to serve as ambassadors of their schools. Mr. Aidoo pledged five million cedis donation to the school, while Mr. Blay pledged some library books and a colour television to enhance their entertainment on campus.
