Expedite Action on the Tano Dam-Director

The Brong Ahafo Regional Director of the Ghana Water Company limited, Mr. Addae Mensah, has passionately appealed to the government to expedite action on the construction of a dam on the Tano River to help expand its supply to many people.

He said laying of pipe lines in some areas like Berlin Top in Sunyani is on course and called on the government to quicken its pace in the construction process of the Dam to be able to serve the people with portable water.

In an interview with Space FM, he appealed to the public to pay their bills regularly to enable the company serve them better.

Mr. Addae advised the public to desist from deliberate breaking of pipe lines to avoid court actions.

Students Advised To Take Civic Education Seriously

The Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has advised students to take advantage of the numerous civic education programmes to improve upon their academic work and also broaden their minds about the constitution,so as to become responsible leaders in future.

According to him, Civic Education programmes will enable them to know their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

He gave the advice during a quiz competition among some selected Junior Secondary School in the Municipality organised by National omission for Civic Education (NCCE) as part of activities marking the Celebration of the Fifth National Constitution Week.

The programme was sponsored by Action Aid Ghana, under the theme? Teaching the Constitution through Quiz Competition.

The schools included Bishop Lamaire, Saint Patricks, High Street and Methodist C JSS.

Explaining the aim of the programme, the Sunyani Municipal Director of NCCE, Mr. Kingsford Ohene Gyaase said, the commission seeks to educate the youth in schools about the constitution to enable them participate in local governance for speedy development.

The Municipal Director of Education, Bishop E. W. Kusi, advised the students to take their studies seriously and take teaching as their profession to help the nation?s educational policy.

The Deputy Minister presented thousand exercise books and 21 inch colour television to Methodist C for emerging as winners.

Saint Patricks, High Street and Bishop Lamire took away 500 books each for placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

Each of the contestants received prizes and certificate of merit.
