FAWE supports vocational training of two girls

Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 28, GNA - Two parents in the Nkoranza district have commended the Ghana Chapter of the Forum for African Women Education (FAWE), an NGO, for supporting the education of their wards. Madam Akua Addae from Nkoranza and Madam Adwoa Fordjour from Tom, made the commendation at a meeting with the FAWE Focal persons, Mr. John Kofi Amoah and Madam Sophia Adalingeah at Nkoranza. FAWE supported Miss Lydia Boahemaa, 18 and Miss Lydia Serwaa, 19 to enrol into the Leadership Training Centre at FAWE Secretariat in Accra in 2002 to study dressmaking, batik tie-and-dye printing and home management.

The organisation paid for all their needs during the three-year course.

The Focal persons advised the two girls to shun pre-marital sex and rather concentrate on their vocation and establish themselves after the course.

They appealed to the Nkoranza District Assembly to help the trainees set up themselves after graduating from the school, noting that a major challenge facing them was lack of capital.
