Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - Families within the Otoupai Mantse We (family house) on Tuesday paid homage and presented assorted food items and drinks to Nii Tetteh Tsuru II for the celebration of the Homowo Festival.
The items included maize, yam, vegetables, cooking oil, fish, schnapps, beverages and cash.
The families were Nii Adonten We, Nii Addy Koblah We, Nii Kpani Tsuru We, Nii Nii Kpani Koblah We, Nii Kwadzoman, Akoa Ndor, Kpone Antie We and Akotia Gwale We.
The other associate houses were the Tetteh Abrantie We, Kwashia Djaano We, Kofi Otuo We, Tetteh Bla We, Nii Obuama Din Nii Boye Tenor We.
Shiekh I. C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, who was the guest of honour, called on the people to eschew any act of violence which would not help in the development of the Ga states and the entire nation.
He said it was important to value the peaceful co-existence of their ancestors and exhibit it instead of creating an atmosphere of confusion adding.
Shiekh Quaye appealed to the people of the Ga State to give him the needed support to execute his functions well. He gave 500,000 cedis as his gift.
Nii Tetteh Tsuru II, head of the Otuopai families, appreciated the gifts presented by the families and said this demonstrated the unity and peace within the rank and file of the citizens of Otuopai. "I hereby call on all Gas to bury their differences and come together for us to search for peace and unity which has eluded us for sometime now."
The annual event organised by the Otuopai families is a Pre-Homowo occasion when the Otuopai Adonten Mantse, the sub-chiefs and associate houses under the Otuopai pay homage and present gifts to Nii Tetteh Tsuru II.
