Fanteakwa hospital recorded 2,410 Admission and 80 deaths

Begoro (E/R), Jan. 27, GNA - The Fanteakwa District Health Services Administrator, Mr Kwame Ampadu-Agyei has disclosed that the year-old Begoro District Hospital recorded 2,410 admissions and 80 deaths. Speaking to Ghana News Agency on Monday, he said 858 patients reported of malaria cases, 131 had gastro-enteritis, 130 had anaemia and the rest suffered from other diseases.

Mr Ampadu-Agyei said the hospital recorded 309 deliveries within the year and commended the few nurses who accepted postings to the hospital to help improve the health status of the people.

He enumerated some teething problems confronting the smooth operation of the hospital as inadequate medical staff, lack of residential accommodation for nurses, absence of telecommunication system and lack of transport to convey nurses and paramedical staff to and from work, especially at night when it is not easy to get transport. He appealed to benevolent organizations, NGOs and Fanteakwa citizens abroad to provide the hospital with a mini bus.

Earlier, the District Director of Health Services, Dr Frederick Kwame Ofosu, had commended stakeholders in the health sector for assisting the hospital to record no maternal death within the year. Jan. 27, 05
