Asuom, Feb 05, GNA - Some farmers in the Eastern Region have complained about the activities of chainsaw operators and said they should be compelled to stop felling trees indiscriminately. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Akim Asamama, Mr Emmanuel Owusu Amankwa and Mr Yaw Kwaning, both farmers, complained chainsaw operators have destroyed food crops, citrus and cash crop farms. They said vehicles that were used in loading the illegally felled logs also destroy footpaths leading to the farms and make them usable during the raining season.
At Asuom in the Kwaebibirim District, Opanyin Kwabena Agyepong and Samuel Sarpong called on the law enforcing agencies to enforce the laws to help stop the destructive activities of the chainsaw operators. 05 Feb 06
