Personnel of Ghana National Fire Service in Sunyani have donated cash and items to Compassion Is Love in Action (CILIA) Children’s Home at Yawhima in the Sunyani Municipality.
The items valued at about GH¢1, 400.00 included children’s footwear and clothing, loaves of bread, three bags of rice, two packets of large-size toothpaste, two crates carnation milk, 12 tins of Milo, a box containing 24 pieces of sunlight cake soap and popcorn.
The rest were a bag of sugar, two packs of small-size washing powder each containing 115 pieces, a 20-litre gallon cooking oil, a 20-litre gallon of liquid soap, a quantity of soft drinks and biscuits, a 30-inch sized portrait image of Jesus Christ and GH¢300.00.
Station Officer One (SO1) Rev Thomas Kofi Dzah who led the personnel comprising 20 females and 10 males said the donation was funded out of offerings accrued from their morning devotions.
Ms Juliana Lekey, an Assistant at the Home praised the personnel.
Ms Lekey said the inmates were all being provided with formal education, adding that two boys, Master Andrew Kwateng, aged 18 and Master Stephen Dakura, 20 years were due to enter the School of Social Work in Accra this academic year, while two females Ms Rosina Appiah, 17 years, and Linda Konadu, aged 18 entered the Senior High School (SHS) this year.
She said the Home needed assistance both in cash and kind to be able to expand its facilities to accommodate more needy children.
