Fire breaks out at Madina market

MADINA, NOV. 17, GNA - Fourteen wooden stalls And three metal containers lined up on the roadside in front of the Madina Urban Council on Sunday night got burnt as a result of a fire outbreak.

In an interview with GNA, some of the fire victims said they only came during the morning and realized that their wares have been gutted by fire and did not know how it started.

Some of the items burnt included, sewing machines, plastic containers, foam materials and large quantities of women's clothing, worth several millions of cedis.

Some of the owners of the stalls wept bitterly on seeing what had happened to their structures.

A communication centre and a barbering Shop, which occupied in two of the containers were totally destroyed by the blaze.

Information gathered indicated that the fire started at dawn. The Legonman Fire Tenders came to assist in distinquishing the fire.

The Member of Parliament for Ga North, Mr. S.O. Darko who visited the fire site to acquaint himself, told GNA that he has reported the incident to the NADMO officials at Amasaman District to quickly visit the scene and access the cost of damage and also see what could be done to assist the victims.

The cause of fire outbreak was not immediately known.
