A ravaging fire at a Mechanic Shop near the Begoro District Hospital in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region has burnt to ashes properties worth thousands of Cedis.

The inferno burnt five (5) cars – a Madza with registration number GW 3269- Q, a KIA Pride with registration number AS 4565 -11 and an Opel Astra with registration number GT 599 -V.

The rest are a Hyundai Ascent with registration number ER 1285- Q and an unregistered Hile Fiat Lansa car.

Other items destroyed during the fire outbreak are two (2) spraying machines, a fridge, five (5) gas cylinders and other equipment.

An eyewitness told Starr News the incident occurred at about 11:55pm Monday.T he fire had damaged the properties before the arrival of personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.

It is not clear what actually caused the fire but there is strong suspicion it triggered by an electrical fault.

Meanwhile, the Fanteakwa District Fire Safety Officer, Wilmot Owusu Ayeh says investigation has commenced into the incident.
