Nyinahin (Ash), May 28, GNA - Fire on Thursday swept through the boys dormitory of the Nyinahin Senior High School (SHS), leaving on its trail massive destruction of property belonging to students.
A total of 47 students completely lost everything including their trunks, books, clothing, shoes, mattresses and beds. There were no injuries as the students were in classes when the incident happened. A combined team of fire fighters from Bibiani and Nyinahin responded to the emergency but could not salvage anything due to the long distance they had to travel. Mr Akwasi Boateng Acheampong, the Headmaster, who confirmed the incident to Ghana News Agency at Nyinahin, said that the fire, the cause of which was yet to be established, started at about 0930 hours. He said the students have been sent home to enable them to recover from trauma that they had as a result of the incident. The Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, Mrs Theresa Adomako Tawiah, the Nyinahin Catholic Parish Priest, Reverend Father Joseph Biney, and the District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization, Mr Osei Assibey, had inspected the damage.
