The life of the bodyguard of Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Volta Regional Minister, may be in danger whenever he visits the Flagstaff House in Accra as some persons who claim to be security details at the presidency have reportedly threatened to deal with him.
The threat came after the bodyguard and a SWAT team from the Volta Regional Police Command had stood their ground to prevent the Flagstaff House security details from misbehaving at the residence of the Jasikan District Chief Executive in the Volta Region recently.
One of them, who was in military uniform and wielding a Guinness bottle which he had emptied, openly threatened the bodyguard in the full glare of journalists and other security men as he shouted, “Where is the bodyguard…ehhh? Okay anytime he comes to Accra, I will deal with him.”
Another security man who was in mufti (smock) also issued similar threats at the bodyguard who is fondly called Obed.
The Flagstaff House security had accompanied the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, to Jasikan last weekend where she presented an X-ray machine with its accessories to the Jasikan Government Hospital.
Some journalists who spoke to DAILY GUIDE maintained that after the donation the entourage of the first lady and the Volta Regional Minister proceeded to the DCE’s residence. The Flagstaff House security men prevented the journalists from the region from entering the residence, let alone get closer to the officials.
Not even the PRO of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) was accorded the dignity of his office, as he could be seen stranded like the other journalists.
Meanwhile, the journalists from Accra were given a special treatment as they were allowed to enter and interact with the first lady, the regional minister and other officials.
Shortly after Mrs Mahama had left in a helicopter that brought her, one would have thought the security men would follow by road as they came. They, however, returned to the residence for reasons best known to them.
At this point, the regional security details had taken their positions, with the bodyguard of the minister at the entrance of the living room of the DCE, where the regional minister and other officials were having some discussions.
When the Flagstaff House security men arrived, they tried entering the room but the minister’s bodyguard resisted strongly. This infuriated the man in smock and his other colleagues. He pushed the bodyguard, and he retaliated with a greater force that sent the Flagstaff man almost tumbling down.
He then began shouting, “I am also a security man” and started to threaten the bodyguard on top of his voice.
At this point tension started to mount. But for the timely intervention of the Deputy Commander of Operations, ASP Van Kofie, there would have been a nasty situation. The SWAT team and the regional minister rushed in to restore law and order.
