Accra, Sept 14, GNA - Dr Nii Gborbilor Fleischer, a medical practitioner, is the new Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP). He polled 131 votes to beat the incumbent Dr Adolf Lutterodt, who had 76 at the Party 's Greater Accra Regional Congress held in Accra on Saturday.
Mr Cephas Okoe Afotey of the Krowor Constituency and Mr Joseph Teye Mortey, Ga North Constituency, were elected unopposed, as First and Second Regional chairmen respectively.
Mr Emmanuel Torgbor was also elected unopposed as Treasurer after Mr John Kofi Tettegah Junior from Ablekuma Central had stepped down. Mr Jonathan Attoh, Ablekuma South beat Mr Godwin Opare Addo, for the position of Secretary.
Nana Kwaku-Domfeh beat Mr Edwin Haywood-Dadzie for the post of Organiser, after Nii Akrashi Armah had withdrawn his nomination. Madam Edwina Okuadjo, Ledzokuku Constituency, was elected Women's Organiser.
Mr Koo Mensah Frempong, Korley Klottey Constituency, beat Mr Richard Nyanyo for the position of Youth Organiser, while Mr Christian Agbodza of Ablekuma Constituency beat his contenders, Mr Yakubu Houghas, and Mr Adu Otutei for the position of Education Secretary. Dr Abubakr Alhassan, Leader and Chairman of the CPP swore the new executives into office.
He charged them to educate themselves on the ideology of the Party, to enable them to explain party issues better to the electorate to win their mandate for the victory of the Party in the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The out-going Regional Chairman Dr Lutterodt conceded defeat, but promised to continue to offer his services to the party. The new Chairman Dr Fleischer noted that the CPP was at the crossroads and promised to concentrate his efforts on strengthening the rejuvenated party to make it vibrant and more marketable for the 2004 elections.
