Accra, Aug. 15, GNA - Friends and Supporters of President John Evans Atta Mills have initiated a Pan-African Child Project, a Christ influenced Non Governmental Organization (NGO) to help raise funds to cater for orphans and under-privileged children in the country. In addition, the project intends to help orphanages raise children who are God-fearing, well-educated and in good health and loving homes.
A statement issued in Accra on Monday by Mr Kwabena Adjei, Coordinating Director, said the average Pan-African child, a 21st Century African child, must possess the fear of God as a foundation, have access to good education, health care and a loving home. "With such an environment, the Pan-African child will be properly and adequately established to take on the challenges that confront Africa, described as a rich continent with poor inhabitants," it added.
The statement said the NGO in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare would embark on series of fund-raising activities to address some of the needs of Osu Children's Home and three other orphanages.
These are Frafraha and Teshie Orphanages, New Life Orphanage at Nungua and Tema Save Our Souls (SOS).
It said the project would be launched by Dr Louisa Hanna Bissiw, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing at the Osu Children's Home on Thursday, September 29, after which the NGO would embark on a national campaign tour to Junior and Senior High Schools to admonish them to trust in the Lord and Serve Him.
