Police in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District of the Central region have arrested 22-year-old Kobena Kwah popularly known as Jones 22 who beat his colleague to death at Breman Brakwa and went into hiding.

The police, who confirmed his arrest on Saturday morning to mynewsgh.com, said he was arrested from his hideout upon a tipoff by some residents.

Jones is alleged to have murdered a 32-year-old hawker and father of four Kwabena Ebo after the deceased and mother of the suspect were engaged in a heated argument but fled after the incident.

His mother Juliet Agyei was arrested but released after the police managed to smoke him out of his hideout on Saturday morning.

According to Evans K. Oboafi Junior a local journalist in the area, an argument ensued between the mother of the suspect and the deceased which nearly resulted in physical exchanges on Thursday evening.

The suspect was informed and on arriving at the scene, failed to find out what was happening but subjected the deceased to severe beatings until he was saved by some onlookers.

“The deceased showed some signs of pain after the incident but went straight to the house. This dawn he was complaining of some severe chest and abdominal pains but died before he could be rushed to the health facility. Doctors claimed he suffered some broken rips resulting from the beating he may have received”, he revealed.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Our Lady of Grace Hospital mortuary at Breman Asikuma pending autopsy.
