Tepa (Ash), Jan 15, GNA - An officer in-charge of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) records in the Ahafo-Ano North district education officer, Mr Mark Akumsaleah, has stated that workers who erroeneously have different dates of birth on their SSNIT records and their Integrated Personal Pay Roll Data (IPPD) have problems in collecting their benefits when they are about to go on pension. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Tepa on Friday, Mr Akumsaleah said he has received complaints from many GES staff, especially teachers with such problems and called for collaboration between the SSNIT and IPPD co-ordinators in Accra to solve the problem. He explained that he has a lot of complaints from teachers who are about to go on retirement by their IPPD records but on their SSNIT records, they have not as yet reached retirement age. Similarly, he said, there are others who have reached their retirement age according to their SSNIT records, but because what is on their IPPD is quite different, there is no way they can collect their benefits.
Mr Akumsaleah said for workers not to have problems in collecting their retirement benefits when they go on pension, Co-ordinators of IPPD in the ministries, departments and institutions must collaborate with the SSNIT headquarters in resolving this problem. He said it would not be in the interest of such workers for their SSNIT or IPPD Co-ordinators to take entrenched position instead of flexibility. He explained that in most cases, the problem is with the SSNIT records but not the IPPD records.
