GH¢200 generator fee at Atebubu College of Education sparks anger

There is currently a growing disquiet among students of the Atebubu College of Education in the Bono East Region following some outrageous charges slapped on them by the Students’ Representative Council(SRC) and authorities of the school.

One of the fees that irks students is the payment of GH¢200 fees contained in a memo dated May 21, 2024.

The memo sighted by MyNewsGh.com reads “The Executive Board of the SRC and the various Hall Tutors want to announce to you the payment of;

1. Payment of this welfare will help provide donations, emergency aid, and other essential services to students in times of need.

2. Hall Dues: The hall dues will be used to maintain and repair the hall facilities, organize events, and enhance your living environment.

3. Generator fee: the generator fee will directly contribute to maintaining a backup power system on campus.

As a result of the above, each student is required to contribute a sum of GH¢ 100.00.

Payment should be made at the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) to the account name and number ATECOE SRC, 8052000072634201 respectively.

Note: Please payment should be made before 2nd June 2024. You will be denied access to your hall for Non-payment.”

Meanwhile, the Principal of the College, Dr Samuel Addae-Boateng in releasing the fees for the 2023/2024 Academic Year for B.Ed Level 200 students indicated that students will pay GH¢300 as SRC Development charges and GH¢200 as Institutional charges sparking an uproar.
