Municipal Chief Executive of Ga West Municipal Assembly, Clement Wilkinson, has revealed that all the roads in the municipality have been upgraded from feeder roads to urban roads.
He said the upgrade would help transform all the roads in the area from feeder to urban roads.
He disclosed this in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM with host Kwabena Agyapong. He told the host that with this upgrade, the Urban Roads Department will collect data for planning and development of road infrastructure in the municipality.
Some experts classify urban roads into five different categories, including motorways for high-speed traffic, arterial roads that connect towns to highways, sub-arterial roads that connect important centres within cities, local roads that collect traffic and lead it to other roads, and streets and pathways for internal and pedestrian access.
The MCE explained that this upgrade was important because it would help in designing asphalt roads.
“I want to inform the Ghanaian public that we have been upgraded from feeder roads to urban roads. So we have been upgraded, and so all our roads would be asphaltic.”
He assured residents of Medie, Adjen Kotoku, and Papase in the Amasaman municipality of the Greater Accra Region that efforts were underway to repair all deplorable roads in the area.
The MCE conveyed appreciation to the staff and Assembly members for their hard work, enthusiasm, passion, and dedication in helping the Assembly accomplish its duty to the public.
