On March 25, 2017, the local and diaspora Ghanaian community will converge in Accra for one of the biggest and most prestigious celebrations of Ghanaian achievement in commemoration of Ghana’s 60th independence celebration.

In its inaugural edition, the Ghana Legacy Honors is the celebration of the unique legacy of Ghana as embodied in the extraordinary achievements of Ghanaians who have made locally or globally reverberate contributions in their fields, all while remaining connected to and rooted in their Ghanaian identity.

The achievement awards will celebrate the pioneers, trailblazers, and leaders who have paved the way for the younger generation and impacted the discourse on Ghana’s image, it’s future and potential.

The red-carpet event will take place on Saturday, March 25th, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The evening will kick-off with a cocktail and networking reception, followed by the main awards ceremony where this year’s honorees will be celebrated for their impact and achievements. Guests will enjoy a delectable full-course dinner, live entertainment, and an exquisite evening filled with camaraderie and inspiration.

The Ghana Legacy Honors is produced by Bábu Global, a pan-African media company responsible for reputable media brands such as Face2face Africa. Bábu is also the producer of the Pan African Weekend, the Ghana-US Investment Forum, and the FACE List Awards, the most prestigious pan-African achievement awards held annually in New York City, where panAfrican pioneers such as Mo Ibrahim, Angelique Kidjo, Alek Wek, Wyclef Jean, Ashish J. Thakkar, Boris Kodjoe, Rosa Whitaker, Bethlehem Alemu, and more have all been honored.

“Our founding fathers paved the way for Ghana to be Africa’s ‘shining city upon a hill’. Bábu is thrilled to launch this initiative to pay tribute to their vision for Ghana as exemplified today in the extraordinary accomplishments of the many Ghanaians who have been instrumental in carrying our country and legacy forward”, said Sandra Appiah, Managing Partner at Bábu Global.

The inaugural honorees will be announced on February 15th. For more information on the Ghana Legacy Honors, including sponsorship, tickets, or how to secure a corporate table, contact GLH@babugroup.com, or call 0271 546 376.
