Reverend Ahmed Israel, Head Pastor of the Royal Baptist Church at Bibiani, has cautioned Ghanaians against taking the prevailing peace in the country for granted.
He asked the people to draw useful lessons from civil strife in other African nations, which has resulted in the lost of human lives and destruction of property.
The clergyman, who was speaking at a Citizenship Day celebration held by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Bibiani, appealed to Ghanaians to be tolerant and respectful to one another, to maintain the unity of the country.
Rev. Israel called on politicians to use decent utterances as the country prepared for Election 2012, and asked the people to be bold and expose rot and other corrupt practices, to help protect public funds.
Mr. James Hattoh, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District NCCE Director, said the celebration was aimed at educating the people on their civic responsibilities.**
