Give chiefs more powers - Adontenhene

Nii Kpakpo Oti IV Nii Kpakpo Oti IV

The newly installed Adontenhene of the Otublohum Traditional Council of the Ga State is demanding for more powers for traditional leaders in Ghana.

Nii Kpakpo Oti IV argued that the existing local governance laws have reduced the powers of chiefs which have in turn rendered them inactive.

The chief made this demand when he paid a call on the Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Alfred Oko Vanderpuije.

In his submission, Nii Kpakpo Oti IV said if the state empowers chiefs by roping them in into the local governance system, the nation will experience massive development.

β€œIt is the time that as a nation, we do away with excessive partisan politics in our local governance if we desire to progress steadily in the direction of responsible self -development,” he said.
