The Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, P3 Denis Asagpaare Balinia Adda ll, has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for the decision to make the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo one of the facilities in the country where Coronavirus (COVID-19) samples can be tested.

Navro-Pio, who agrees with the President Akufo Addo on the decision and believes it would reduce the stress associated with moving samples to distant facilities for testing, has appealed to the President to seal the love his has for the hospital and people of the area with the construction of a modern Operating Theatre.

Speaking on the sideline in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Senyalah Castro, after he witnessed the donation of some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and medical supplies by Charger Limited to the hospital, P3 Asagpaare said even though the hospital has been upgraded, it still did not have the facilities to fit the status.

He said the unavailability of some facilities and equipment was seriously affecting the hospital in terms of giving the people the best healthcare.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo saying they should use the Navrongo War Memorial Hospital as a test centre for me is a brilliant idea and I can’t say anything than to say that I am happy for bringing this suggestion because if you have to go to Tamale and they can do it here, why not.

But all the same, I am appealing that Navrongo War Memorial Hospital needs a modern Theatre. If the President is listening, I am pleading to him to get a Theatre for Navrongo Hospital for me”

“I am happy for the Upgrading but the hospital needs facilities. It needs the necessary infrastructure. And like I just mention the Theatre. We have our Northern brothers who always come every year to help the hospital but the bad thing is when they come, where they do the operations is not very good. So, I am appealing to the President to get us a modern Theatre in the hospital”. The Navro-Pio explained.

The Navro-Pio commended the government for some of the interventions and guidelines put in place to stem the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the country. He sided with the government for lifting the restriction on movement of people in some parts of the country, stating it would reduce the hardship Ghanaians are going through in this difficult time.

He reminded Ghanaians the need to continue to adhere strictly to the preventive protocols such social distancing and proper handwashing, emphasizing that “lifting the ban doesn’t mean the disease is no more there. It is still there and people need to be very careful. We must take good care of ourselves”.

The Navro-Pio profusely thanked Charger Limited for the kind gesture. He particularly praised the company for responding swiftly to his call for assistance for health facilities in his Traditional Area.

He was hopeful the items would help the directorate fight the spread of the disease. The Navro-Pio urged other well-meaning sons and daughters of the land, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and companies to support the directorate with their donation to overcome this difficult time.

For his part, the Kasena-Nankana Municipal Director of Health Service, Azure Benson Nsoh, commended Charger Limited for the support. He said the items would go a long way to motivate staff to give off their best in the discharge of duties and renew their commitment towards the fight against the spread of the COVID-19.

He also commended the Traditional Leader for championing sensitization activities in the area to create awareness and called on all to join the fight against the killer disease.

In all, Charger Limited donated Ghc42,750 worth of PPEs and other medical supplies. The items included, 4 pieces of infrared Gun Thermometers, 5 sets of Digital BP Monitors, 1,000 pieces of Face Masks, 5,000 pieces of Examination gloves and 50 pieces of surgical gowns.

The rest were, 120 pieces of tissue Rolls, 20 ‘Veronica Buckets’, 30 cartons of liquid Soap, 5,000 pieces of Surgical Gloves and 1,000 pieces of Charger Hand Sanitizers.
