The Drobo Traditional Council in the Brong Ahafo region has cautioned the region’s Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong for allegedly distorting facts in the case involving the people of Drobo and those at Japekrom in the region.

Two communities clashed Wednesday, October 17, resulting in the death of at least one person. The Interior Ministry subsequently intervened and imposed a 6:00 pm – 6:00 am curfew on Drobo, Japekrom and surrounding towns.

The Gyaasehene of the Council, Nana Amo Yeboah Asuamah, claimed the Police PRO’s narrative on the incident was inaccurate and that he has admitted and apologized.

“He has accepted the fault, the false message he sent and apologized, all we are saying is that we have accepted the apology and that he should go and sin no more”

Pointing to the specific portions of the alleged misinformation, the Gyaasehene said it is not true that the Japekrom people pass through Drobo every year when they celebrate their festival.

“The PRO wrongfully reported that Japekrom annually celebrate their festival and then pass through Drobo and back like I said annually, which is not true, this is the first time such a thing happened ”, he said

He also said the report about the source of a gunshot which killed one person was not accurate because the places mentioned by the Police PRO are over one kilometer apart.
