Gomoa Kweikrom gets electricity and Ninfahen

Gomoa Kweikrom (C/R) Feb 16, GNA - A 48-year-old business man from Gomoa Kweikrom was at the weekend installed as the Ninfahen of the town under the stool name of Nana Aietey I.

Nana Aeitey, known in private life as Mr Frank Quaye, is the first person to be installed as the Ninfahen in the history of the town. His installation took place during this year's Akwambo Festival of the chiefs and people at which the electrification project for the town was inaugurated.

As part of the festivities, he was earlier in the day carried in a palanquin with the Tufuhen, Omanbatan and the Queen mother, and paraded through the principal street of the town to the durbar grounds amidst brass band and Fontonfrom music with dancing.

Nana Aeitey later took the Oath of Allegiance before the chief of the town, Nana Kwei Ababio II, other sub Chiefs and the Omanbatan. Addressing the people, Nana Aeitey called for unity, peace and tolerance among them towards the development of the town, adding that education is his top priority.

Nana Ababio urged the new chief not to lord his position on the people but rather discharge his duties without fear or favour to enhance the development of the town.

He appealed to his people not to let politics to divide them, adding that with unity they could achieve success.

He advised the youth to regularly visit home to help in developing the town instead of waiting for festivals and funerals before going home. The Chief, on behalf of his people, expressed his gratitude to the President and those who contributed towards connecting the town to the national electrification grid.

The District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Mr Ekoie Okyere Paniy, appealed to the people in the district to rally behind the government in its efforts at building a better Ghana.

The DCE, assisted by Nana Ababio, later cut a tape to inaugurate the electrician project.
