Apam, Jan 7, GNA - Mr. Fred Oscar Abban, Assistant Headmaster of Gomoa Senior High/Technical school at Dawurampong, was on Tuesday re elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of Gomoa West District Assembly, at Apam, for another two-year term. He polled 37 votes as against seven for Mr. Anthony Kweku Tackie-Otoo, Finance and Administration sub-committee Chairman of the assembly, and one ballot paper was rejected. Mr. Abban expressed gratitude to the members for the confidence reposed in him and assured them of a dedicated and transparent service to move he district forward. He reminded members that the district assembly concept was based on non-partisanship and that they should not let the change of government to disrupt its activities.
Mr. Kwesi Esseku, Central Regional Representative on the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), appealed to district, municipal and metropolitan assemblies to support the association to intensify capacity building of assembly members. He said work on the five-storey office complex for the association was progressing steadily and appealed to the assemblies to ensure regular financial support for early completion of the project. Madam Joyce Aidoo, District Chief Executive of Gomoa West urged the assembly to intensify its revenue generation for more funds to complement the assembly common fund.
