Apam (C/R), Jan 17, GNA - The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa We= st, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, has presented three sets of communication equipment to Apam to enhance dissemination of information. The equipment, costing GH¢1,750, were the MP's personal contributi= on to information dissemination in the town.
Presenting the items to Nana Edu Effrim X, the Chief of Apam, at the weekend, Mr Arthur said with the introduction of new communication gadgets, communities were no longer relying on town criers to disseminate information. He said he had decided to provide all communities in his constituency with the equipment.
Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive, said the equipment could be a source of revenue for the communities. He said communities could collect fees from people who use them at social events such as funerals and naming ceremonies. Nana Edu Effrim appealed to the MP and the DCE to find out what was holding back the proposal to make Apam and its environs a municipality. He said a promise was made several years ago to make Apam a municipalit= y but nothing has happened and appealed to the two officials to work to remov= e any bottlenecks impeding the fulfilment of the promise.
