Accra, May 24, GNA - Vice President Aliu Mahama, on behalf of the Government, on Tuesday expressed sympathy to the bereaved family of Alfred Kofi Appiah, Executive Director of Children's Right International.
"The children of Ghana have lost a great supporter and Ghana have lost a great man," the Vice President said when he received a delegation of family members and representatives of NGOs at the Castle, Osu.
Mr Appiah, who was the co-ordinator of ECOWAS Network of NGOs and a Member of the African Peer Review Committee, died in motor accident near Kpong on March 19.
He was also a member of the Presidential Review Committee on Education.
Vice President Mahama described Mr Appiah as an enterprising young man who was dedicated to the cause of children saying, he made a mark in his short life and Ghana would forever cherish his memories. He gave the assurance that, Government would be represented at the funeral of a man who served his nation well. The pre-burial service would be held at International Central Gospel Church in Accra on Friday May 27 after which the body would be sent to his hometown, Tepa Abotoase, Volta Region, for burial the following day.
Mr Mark Eric Kedjan, who led the delegation, said the family deemed it fit to inform the Government about Mr Appiah's death because he dedicated his life to the service of his nation.
