Ho, Aug. 13, GNA- Mr Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, Volta Regional Minister on Friday re-affirmed government's commitment of maintaining peace between the people of Nkonya and Alavanyo and other troubled areas in the country.
Mr Owusu-Yeboa was briefing Mr Peter Linder, German Ambassador to Ghana on recent developments in the area, when the Ambassador paid a courtesy call on him.
He said the some of the clashes were unavoidable due to the "latest guerrilla tactics" adopted by the warring factions in the conflict to outwit the military-cum-police taskforce, which maintains peace in the area.
Mr Owusu-Yeboa said government would apply the rule of law to solve the conflict.
He however, said the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) would not take chances due to the fragile nature of the conflict.
The Regional Minister said lack of commitment to peace by the people coupled with the limited mandate of REGSEC, made the conflict very delicate to handle.
Replying, Mr Linder said, this and other conflicts in the country were of interest to the international community due to the impending general elections and appealed for peace and calm.
He called for traditional and modern laws in conflict resolution to enable the people to live in peace.
