The Gwira Traditional Council (GTC) has categorically disclaimed and rejected reports that Awulae Amankrah Panyin Ababio VI has been installed as the new paramount chief of Gwira Traditional Area.
According to the Traditional Council, the purported move and publication are baseless, false, and misleading.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan, the Paramount Chief and President of the Gwira Traditional Council.
Setting the record straight, the statement noted, "The claim that a new Paramount Chief has been installed or enstooled is false.
The Gwira Traditional Area remains under the legitimate leadership of the duly recognized Paramount Chief, Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II, who continues to serve in accordance with custom, tradition, and law."
The statement said the purported chief is currently wanted by the police command as he has no legitimate claim to the stool and has been engaged in activities that violate the laws of the land.
The Gwira Traditional Council therefore warned individuals, organizations, divisional and sub-chiefs, investors, and the general public to desist from engaging with the said individual or recognizing him in any capacity.
"Any dealings with him will be deemed a violation of the authority of the legitimate Gwira Traditional Council and may have legal consequences."
The Council also urged media outlets to verify information with the appropriate authority before publication, as such unverified stories only serve to mislead the public and disrupt the peace and development of the GTC.
The GTC reiterated its commitment to the development of the area through unity, education, health, infrastructure, and other critical sectors. It called on citizens, stakeholders, and partners to support the Council's efforts in fostering growth and prosperity for the people of Gwira.
The statement reiterated that Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II, the Paramount Chief and President of the Gwira Traditional Council, remains the sole custodian of the Gwira stool and the legitimate leader of the Gwira Traditional Area, adding that "any attempt to usurp his authority or create confusion will not be tolerated."
