HEE-foundation promotes social development

HEE foundation, a non-governmental organization operating in the three northern regions as well as the Ashanti and the Brong Ahafo regions, has launched a social development programme aimed at raising the standards of the people in the north.
The programme aims at creating a healthy and functional society in these regions; identify and provide appropriate interventions towards global health, education and environmental development. Through education, the programme also seeks to provide rural students with educational resources, bridge the existing gap between the skilled and unskilled labour through non-formal education, while ensuring environmental sustainability as a measure of mitigating poor sanitation practices, as it creates awareness on the importance of conserving the environment. HEE foundation hopes to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases, and offer primary health care to rural and most deprived communities using appropriate technology.

Speaking in an interview with the media, the chief executive of HEE foundation, Sani Mohammed, said students from secondary schools are selected on gradual basis for the functional literacy programmes. According to him, the community development aspect is also done based on research findings after which advocacy and sensitization programmes are offered on environmental development, among others. “These, are then climaxed with musical concerts and drama,” he disclosed.
Sani Mohammed believed the programme was already on the move to achieving its objectives in view of the hardworking and disciplined entrepreneurship approach he had adopted for implementation. Students of Mount Zion Model School in Kumasi, Atebubu Senior High School, and the Institute of Business Studies are some of the beneficiaries of the programmes undertaken by the HEE foundation, he said.
Mr. Mohammed regards himself as an outstanding team player who is always ready to work under any condition for quick development and improvements with a special passion for youth development. He promised to use his excellent working knowledge in computer studies and bilingual skills to specially plan, research, and develop innovative concepts towards the development of the people in the rural parts of the three northern regions, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo.
