Former Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, his family and the HODA Holdings have honoured a distress call from the Dzorwulu Special School by making a cash donation of GHc12, 000 to the institution.
The donation which was described by the headmistress of the school, Mrs. Veronica Sackey, as the “biggest cash donation” was presented with the aim of facilitating the school’s traveling expenses to Sekondi- Takoradi to participate in the Sports Festival for Southern Zone Special Schools.
Addressing the gathering on behalf of HODA Holdings in a delegation led by Mrs Akosua Duffuor with support from Mrs. Panin Baffour Awuah, the Chief Executive Officer of uniCredit, Rev. Samuel Sekyi-Hyde gave an exaltation entitled “God has plans for everyone.”
According to Rev. Sekyi-Hyde, “discouragement is real, but giving up is a choice. We are here to tell you never give up. You will be discouraged, but the power of God is great. You can decide to give up or not to give up. We love you, because God has a plan and a purpose for every one of you here. We believe that in his right time he will make all things beautiful.”
“On behalf of Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, and family, we are here based on an appeal presented to them and we are here to honour their word. Every year we meet as a group to give praise to God and to thank God for his goodness and the offering that comes out are normally used to support various works like this,” he added.
The headmistress, Mrs Sackey, said Chairman Emeritus and his HODA Holdings have been the greatest philanthropists to have come into contact with her school and however asked for God blessing to them to continue to help society as they usually do.
“We have been hearing of HODA Holdings doing donations to others but today we have seen them come to us. We are exceedingly grateful. This is the highest cash donation and it will help us in the First Southern Sector Disability Games at Essipong Stadium. Now, we can easily do our training and prepare vigorously towards the games”.
Master Isaac Otchere, the school prefect of the Dzorwulu Special School, also commended Mrs Duffuor and the team for such a wonderful donation. He assured them that, they will do all things possible to shine in the games which start on March 20 and ends on March 24, 2016.
This donation was based on a request received from the headmistress of the school for cash assistance to facilitate accommodation for teachers, athletes as well as address their traveling expenses to the games in Takoradi.
