Miss Matilda Soale, a Superintendent Midwife at the Daboya Hospital in the West Gonja District was adjudged the best health worker in the region.

The other award winners were: Madam Maida Adisa Ramatu Brimah, who received 50 million cedis, while Fidelity Bayiba had 10 million cedis with Mbanna Alhassan Iddrisu, Dr Jacob Mahama and Aina Bakassi collecting one million cedis each.

The Regional Directorate of the GHS was presented with a plague. Dr Elias Sory, Northern Regional Director of Health Services said the awards were an effort to motivate nurses and doctors to put in their best in health care delivery.

He said the awards were specifically targeted at health personnel at the district levels, who had sacrificed to provide the health needs of the less privileged in society.

He commended the award winners for their hard work in spite of the numerous difficulties under which they performed their duties and urged the others to endeavour to emulate them.
