Heads asked to ensure discipline in schools

Akim Achease (E/R), March 31, GNA - The Birim South District Director of Education, Mrs Stella K. Nanor, has urged teachers and pupils to exhibit a high level of discipline at all times to enhance academic performance in schools.

She observed that, if teachers and pupils were disciplined, school performance would be positively affected.

Mrs Nanor, who was speaking at a durbar of teachers and pupils at Akim Achiase on Wednesday, where 28 brilliant but needy students were given scholarships under the Akim Achiase Education Endowment Fund. She called on School Management Committees (SMC'S) to ensure that disciplinary control in schools was upheld in other that the students become models for other people.

The District Director appealed to parents to ensure that the girl-child was sent to school and encouraged to continue schooling up to the tertiary level.

The chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, Mr Isaac Asiedu, appealed to teachers to intensify their work, guard against absenteeism, lateness and also to ensure quality education at all times. He urged teachers not only to help the children to read, write and solve problems but they should also inculcate in them sound moral values.

The Chief of Akim Achease, Osabarima Gyeni Kenteng I, who presided, called on parents to visit schools regularly to interact with pupils and teachers to get first hand information on the performance and needs of their children.

They should also provide adequate balanced food, uniforms and books for their wards and also pay their levies promptly in other to give the children the needed encouragement to study.
