Help develop District - Assin South citizens urged

Assin Nsuaem (C/R), Aug 19, GNA - The people of the new Assin South District have been urged to accept the siting of the headquarters at Nsueam-Kyekyewere and to contribute towards the development of the area. Mr Derick Owusu-Ambrose, Assemblyman for Assin Adiembra who made the call said through the collective effort of the citizens of the area and the support of the government the status of Assin Manso and Nyankomanse Ahenkro, which were contesting for the headquarters could be raised.

"On the other hand if we should wait for the government alone to develop the place for us then we would have a long way to go", he said. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the inauguration of the new district at Assin Nsueam on Thursday, Mr Owusu-Ambrose appealed to workers who would be posted to the district to accept conditions in the communities and to work hard to improve them.

"The conditions should not scare you to refuse to accept postings to the district," he said.

Mr Owusu-Ambrose, a Pharmacist at the Saltpond Government Hospital, appealed to citizens of the area who could not take their pictures during the voters registration exercise to take advantage of the mopping up exercise, which would start soon to avoid disenfranchising themselves.
