Ho Asogli to hold Congress as part this years' Yam Festival

Ho, Mar. 1, GNA- The Ho Asogli Traditional Council will host a Congress of citizens from the Volta Region in September this year as part of activities marking its yam festival.

Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State announced this at a reception organised by the Council for media practitioners and security personnel in Ho to formally thank them for their role in ensuring a peaceful, orderly and well-publicised burial of the late Togbe Afede Asor II and his installation.

Togbe Afede, a financial consultant said the Congress and the launching of a Fund were necessary platforms for mobilizing citizens of the region both at home and abroad towards its development.

He was hopeful that the media would be supportive of the two events. Togbe Afede assured that the Asogli State regards all those who reside and make their living in Ho as citizens of the State without discrimination and are expected to contribute their quota to its development and promotion of peaceful co-existence.

He appealed to the media and security agencies to help make this year's elections peaceful and successful by being fair to all political parties.

Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu XII, Awafiaga of Asogli said leaders of the Asogli State regard the co-operation of the media as vital if they were to be successful in whatever they set out to do. Professor Komla Amoako, Executive Director of the National Theatre appealed to the media to help correct the negative impressions, which the rest of the country held about the region.
