Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central has donated a cheque for GHC5, 000.00, packs of sanitizers and Veronica buckets to selected institutions in the Constituency to fight COVID 19.
The cheque was presented to Dr. Kwesi Senanu Dzokoto, Deputy Volta Regional Director of Ghana Health Services, in charge of Public Health for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for frontline health workers at public and private health facilities in the Constituency.
The items - 25 Veronica buckets, 1,160 hand sanitizers, 1,100 containers of liquid soap and the money were estimated at GHC20, 000.00.
The beneficiaries include the Ho Central Prisons, hospitals and clinics, the Ho Cured Lepers Village, and the Ho Main Market.
Mr Kpodo said the gesture was to complement Government's efforts at containing the disease and urged the beneficiaries to put the items to good use.
He said he was making arrangements for more equipment for communities outside Ho, and called for concerted efforts to keep the virus out of the Constituency.
"Let's all take the precautionary measures seriously. Wash our hands under running water regularly or use sanitizers, practice social distancing and avoid handshakes. We all have these responsibilities to be spiritually and physically strong," Mr Kpodo said.
Dr. Dzokoto said though the Constituency and the Region had no confirmed case of Coronavirus, health facilities needed the equipment for any eventuality and commended the MP for the support.
He said, "these are trying moments for us all and I appeal to others for more support so we can deal with this situation very well as expected."
Dr. Dzokoto said a total of 15 cases from the Region sent for testing were negative and said the Directorate had enhanced surveillance across the Region.
